I started this blog a while back mainly so it would force me to keep sketching and painting but seeing as its a new year and all I thought I'd post some of my work I've done over the last year. It hasn't been particularly busy one but I managed to work on some really nice jobs including the Olympic opening ceremony.

 Cancer Research Advert

I can't take much credit for this as I only made the grid which is barely seen in the advert. I just thought I'd post it as its such a good ad

Olympic opening ceremony

I can't remember how long this took but there was probably at least about 10 of us working on it at any given time. The deadlines were pretty tight on this one but it was good to be involved in the Olympics.

Tea Commercial 

This was about 8 weeks work and was for an advert for a tea company. The idea was that the tea flowed through the tree and dripped out of the leaves. I've still not seen the advert yet so i hope it hasn't been canned.

A Mouse and his Child

 

This was a costume I helped make at JagProps for a production at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Betty Swollocks

Here's a coloured version I did tonight of my cousins dog Betty.

I just scanned the pencil sketch into Photo shop and laid down a few colours behind the image. 

Probably took about an hour to do give or take some faffing about.

 

January art dump.

Here's a few sketches I've done though out the last month. 

Really want to improve drastically this year so hopefully there'll be a noticeable improvement by Christmas time...

 

 

  

Random scribblings from through out this year

I've been pretty bad at updating as a whole this year but I have been doing a fair bit of art so I'm going to try and post it all before the years out.

I've been going to a lot of life drawing classes since moving to Bristol. Here's a few of the better sketches I've done over the last few months.

Roman Mask

I've been working on this one and off for a while now.
Not sure I'm happy with it still so I might end up going back to it. I was hoping to get it looking as photo realistic as possible which I've obviously not achieved.
I Painted the whole thing in Photoshop which I hate but I really need to get used to using it again.

Anyway its taken from a photo of a Roman mask discovered in the Netherlands.

Pavel the Crow

Here's another sculpt I did the other day.  I had some sculpey left over from the last project so I thought I'd see what I could do with it.
I'm going to try painting this one so I'll post some more photos when its finished.

Knotwood

I've been working on my portfolio the last few weeks and realised I hadn't got that much sculpting in it so I thought I better pull my finger out and get stuck in.

I've used a polymer clay called Studio by Sculpey which probably wasn't the best material to use but it seemed to work okay.

Still not sure whether to paint it or not so let me know what you think.
